I found this lovely Peruvian-English fusion restaurant through a post for Perú’s 205th Independence Day celebration. We started with a couple of Pisco sours (Peru’s National Cocktail) that were on point, two of these and you’ll start singing “La flor de la Canela”. Afterwards, we went directly to the mains: Pescado à la Inglesa and Seco de Cordero, both absolutely amazing, but since you always have a favourite, the Seco is my recommendation. An absolute masterpiece, a refined version of traditional Seco à la Norteña from the best Chiclayo restaurants and with a Anticucho base sauce that fit perfectly. Finally, for dessert, obviously, we ordered Paddington. Glad to find this gem 15min away from Canary Wharf, and happy to have celebrated Perú’s National Day in this great place ¡Viva el Perú! We finally had a nanny for the evening and decided to try El Alquimista, a local fine dining spot that opened last autumn. We were blown away. The room itself is a surprise. Its a properly upscale in a way you just don't expect in Greenwich. The service matched it: warm, attentive and polished, on the level of a five-star hotel. What really struck us was that the chef/owner presented every single dish himself alongside his team. The amount of care behind it was incredible. And the food is the real thing. We've eaten at a lot of highly rated restaurants in London, and this is one-star Michelin territory on taste. Portions were generous, and between courses they brought out extra off-menu bites for the whole room. A lovely touch. Honestly, the bill felt low for the experience we had. A genuine hidden gem, and we'll be back as soon as we can arrange another babysitter. Spectacular. To El Alquimista staff reading this: Never give up on your consistency to excellence. It matters and it will be all worth it in the end. Jacqueline HTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What a fantastic dining experience. Every dish was beautifully executed, but the ceviche was the standout—easily one of the best we've had in London. The duck was cooked to absolute perfection: tender, flavourful, and expertly balanced. You can really feel the chef's passion and attention to detail in every plate. The quality of the ingredients and the care that goes into the food make this somewhere truly special. I'd highly recommend it for a special occasion or for anyone who loves authentic, high-quality Peruvian cuisine. We'll definitely be back. My friend and I dined here on Saturday, and everything was exceptional. I chose the ceviche followed by the pescado from the new summer menu, while my friend was delighted to find plenty of delicious options that catered perfectly to her vegan and gluten-free diet. The fresh bread and tomato broth was a surprise and set us up for our meal. My ceviche was incredibly fresh, vibrant, and full of zing, and the pescado was a wonderful twist on the classic British fish and chips—dare I say, even better than the original! Walter's clever use of pea shoots throughout the dishes added a beautiful, fresh summer feel to every plate. The cocktails were fabulous as ever—the best pisco cocktails around. We're so lucky to have this fantastic restaurant on our doorstep. A consistently outstanding dining experience, and we can't wait to come back! The best meal I've eaten in London and I have lived here for 5 years. The tasting menu was to die for with perfect wine pairings that all told left me feels like I'd received a bargain after leaving 20% tip!!! In a city where you often overpay for mediocre grub, I couldn't recommend this place more. Well done to the Head Chef and his lovely wife for bringing this restaurant to reality. Thank you X Jade VerbickTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had an excellent lunch here! The food was delicious and the service was great. Everything tasted amazing and the quality of the food was very high. The chef came out to present all the dishes and we ended up having a lovely conversation about his background and passion which made the experience so special and memorable. Would come back here in a heartbeat! Anastasia MaximetsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Loved the place and the special attention we’ve been given by the lovely hosts! The food was superb but it’s the incredible atmosphere that makes this place the one to come back to. Thanks a lot!
